There were eight known types of these cats but nowadays there are only five that are left and the other three are totally extinct. They are: Bali, Caspian and Javan. The main reason of the extinction of these wonderful species is the human's attitude towards them. Unfortunately, the five remaining subspecies are also in dire straits, and some of them may be gone in less than 20 years. The Amur subspecies has lost its existence in China and Korea, and is rapidly declining in the Russian Far East.
